About this Form:  This is a no-fault divorce form for use in Tennessee (PETITION FOR DIVORCE). Most courts will require that this form be completed and filed along with a Marital Settlement Agreement. Please note that in Paragraph 5 (Grounds for Divorce), the Petitioner will need to specify actual grounds for divorce that are recognized as valid within the State of Tennessee. Tennessee law adheres only the following grounds as adequate for granting a no-fault divorce: Irrevocable breakdown of the marriage shown by: (1) irreconcilable differences provided that: (a) no denial of this ground exists by either spouse; (b) the spouses submit a properly signed marital dissolution agreement; or (c) this grounds for divorce is combined with a general fault-based grounds; or (2) living separate and apart without cohabitation for two years when there are no minor children.
